A Delightful Inheritance: January 2009

It's been sooooo long since I've posted that I thought I'd give you quick photo peeks at what types of things we've been doing since Sept.

We had a great time at the beach.

Here is something that kept washing up on shore. (There was a hurricane around 200 miles away and so some interesting things were brought in with the tide.) I have no idea what this is (except I'm pretty sure that it's a type of animal). If any of you know what it is, please let me know. Thanks. :)

We've gotten back into our school year. Boy did this fall fly by quickly! The girls had a number of activities going that had me running a bit crazy. We had two girls participating with speech and debate. (Dropped debate after the fall. It was great experience but not something we felt we could continue participating in all year.) We also had one girl in volleyball, one in softball, two in piano, & two in art. (Luckily, life's slowed down some which has helped me catch my breath.) After many years of wishing for a hamster, L was finally given the okay to buy herself a hamster. Here's Little Buddy:

Awana had a Bible character night. May I introduce Ruth, Martha, & Mary. (The girls came up with their characters/costumes completely on their own.)

After the tornado, we had to give our cat, Angel, away. She was so traumatized. It took us 2 days to find her. We don't know what she saw but know she was terrified for days. She needed a new home. Luckily a sweet homeschooling family took her in and she was a great fit for their family. This fall we got a "replacement cat". :) We got him from the shelter and absolutely love him. He has such a great personality - loves to play and also loves to be with people. He's a great fit for our family. Here's Jehoshaphat:

We had a great Thanksgiving with our families in town.
Then we entered the season preparing for Christmas. It was a wonderful season full of lots of fun.

We dressed Benny up but Jehoshaphat posed himself. :)

Christmas morning came with all the fun of celebrating Jesus' birth, including:

We spent Christmas morning at home. (My mom and dad came over to see us.) That afternoon we celebrated with my family and that night we celebrated with R's family. These pictures are from my family's celebration. We got to his family's celebration just in time for dinner, so the photo ops were gone. (Didn't want to resort to photos of people eating.) :)
